Sometimes even a little thing out of place can make a big mess.
My web page is now refusing to rebuild automatically when comments are submitted, or when I post a new post. This means I must rebuilt it manually, going in and pressing a little button somewhere in my webpage interface.
So if you post comments, and they don’t show up right away, don’t be alarmed. It’s just another glitch in the system. I’m trying to take care of it now, though it may mean waiting for a while till I can export all my archives, delete the installation of MT, reinstall, and re-import everything. We’ll see. If I need to do that, I may wait till February, when I’ll have a lot of time on my hands.
I may have fixed the problem, something I’m going to test by posting this very comment. Not a real fix, but a patchy one that’ll do for now. Given the limitations of MT before now, I had to structure my data in such a way, but it’s created an unwieldy set of index templates that are also doing the work of archiving, which I suspect is the root of the problem. My bad.
I am hoping to be able to fix it when I do a major overhaul of the architecture of this site in February. But till then, I hope this holds out.
