According to the Gospel of Judas, a newly discovered document from early Christian times, that’s the story. It’s an surprising alternate version of the story we all know, and that in itself makes it interesting, regardless of your views on mainstream religion.
I was disappointed, I will admit, that it was nothing like the Book Of Judas described in George R.R. Martin’s The Way of Cross and Dragon.
That said, the “Judas-as-facilitator-of-the-sacrifice” story has always seemed more plausible to me.
