My baby sister Annie (“Isabella” is her real name, and what she prefers to be called, but I can’t help but call her Annie) should be giving birth to her and her husband Martin’s baby either sometime tonight or sometime tomorrow, Winnipeg Time. This will mean I am uncle for the second time in the last few years.
One interesting thing is that nobody knows whether it’s a boy or girl. Everyone seems to be speculating. My nephew thinks it’s a girl. My Dad expressed the same opinion before he passed on. My mother thought it was a boy, at least the last time we discussed it. Me, I’m more concerned with health than gender, to the point where I can’t even really be bothered to guess, any more than whether the baby has brown hair or blond. But anyway, it is a novelty these days that the baby’s sex will come as a surprise, since (as far as I know) nobody knows it except their doctor, right now. At least, my mother seems not to know.
That is all the news that’s fit to print… for now! Stay tuned for more!
UPDATE: The baby’s here! Boy, healthy, looks like his dad. Not much more info on hand just yet. Maybe I’ll hear more tomorrow? Who knows…
Congrats Gord! Being the cool Uncle is a great position in the extended family. :)
Congratulations! I became a first-time uncle a month ago.
Thanks guys, and congratulations you too, Mark! It’s cool, isn’t it? I feel like the clan is expanding or something.
My sister isn’t going to find out until birth, either. Which is annoying because I want to ship all the appropriate outgrown baby things to her before early October, and she’s not supposed to deliver until November. :P
It’s neat having a new family member, isn’t it? :)
T’is… need to find a way to stay awake long enough to call, however…
