Threes
My netfriend and fellow writer Stephanie recently wrote:
I recently read in a book that stories and life happen in three acts: wake up, do some work, go to bed; you’re born, you live, you die; etc. This is what my life has been feeling like lately, like I’m just going through the motions…
I really hear [...]
Write-a-thon Day 2
Things are proceeding nicely. I’m at 2900 words for today, and I may or may not get more done tonight, but Lime and I have a dinner meeting, and I think I’ll go climb the mountain and grade a little in the three hours until then. As for the breakdown, it’s pretty round in [...]
Write-a-thon, Day 1 (Wordcount total: 3400)
Well, I’ve reached the end of my writing day, Day 1 of the write-a-thon. I churned out about 2900 words of the novel I’ll be writing this summer, which is an expansion of my Korean superheroes novella “Jjangguk and the Madman of Pyongyang.” That’s good time: I’ve committed to 15,000 words a week, and at [...]
Pushing Hell and Sponsor-Fishing
I wasn’t going to post the Postcards from Hell schedule, but I see that some others have, so what the hell, right? Get it, hell?

Government Plagiarism
Lime came and ranted briefly about how some Korean lawmakers apparently plagiarised content from Korean travel communities after a investigatory trip to Vietnam. They got caught, of course, which is how it’s in the news.
What can I say? I’m not surprised. In Korea, plagiarism is widely acknowledged to be rampant. Foreigner after foreigner has told [...]
Forget Rain, Forget Hakwons. Parents: Think Kim Sun Wook.
Like any other Westerner in Korea, I’m completely amused, and unsurprised, by the way 비/Rain’s so-called “World Tour” is turning out to be a collossal failure. (Inadequate stage setup? I have trouble buying that, as do many others.) World popularity isn’t a nationalist-netizen-driven thing, as Rain and his promoters — and hopefully the Korean [...]
IROSF — The Ones to Watch
I forgot to post this: The Internet Review of Science Fiction had a piece about up-and-coming writers, and had a profile on the Texan fantasist (and my classmate) Shawn Scarber. Check it out: The Ones to Watch.
