The New World Orwell

So now they’ve actually issued a report that this was all bullshit? But wait, I thought the report said that the President and co. simply ignored the CIA’s reports, which didn’t implicate Iraq in any involvement with Al Quaida. The connect the dots analogy below is tragic and chilling.

Sen. Jay Rockefeller, the leading Democrat on the 18-member panel, said that “bad information” was used to bolster the case for war.

“We in Congress would not have authorized that war with 75 votes if we knew what we know now,” the West Virginia Democrat said.

“Leading up to September 11, our government didn’t connect the dots. In Iraq, we are even more culpable because the dots themselves never existed.”

All previous uses of the word Orwellian have now been rendered hyperbolic because this, this is simply all-out literally Orwellian. I mean, the fact that a report has to be issued claiming that the war was waged on no evidence at all?

Brrrr. And if that’s not bad enough, there’s even more. Yes, claims that Al Quaeda also plans to muck up the upcoming election. Why? Do they think Bush, who has done them so many favours in the last few years, will be voted out?

I should think it’s probably for more nefarious, Republican purposes.

Homeland Security Department spokesman Brian Rochrkasse told the magazine the agency is reviewing the matter “to determine what steps need to be taken to secure the election.”

Secure the election for Bush, he means? America, you government is beginning to really, deeply frighten me. I hope the majority of you frightened too, though, because if you aren’t, then you’re more in trouble than anyone thought.
