Canadian Water: Waiting Makes Sense

You know, the fact that people have forecast a world shortage of fresh water sometime in the 21st century is interesting. More so when you see something like this:

Canada has only a half percent of the world’s population but it holds one-fifth of the planet’s freshwater supply, half of which is renewable.

The article makes a big deal of complaining about the ostensible suppression of the bulk freshwater export industry, but I think holding off makes sense. If you set up everything now, you run a big risk of establishing what will become the world’s most lucrative trade, at a time when it’s far from that lucrative. Trade deals established, it’s much harder to change things to your advantage, something that some people seem unable to grasp. It just makes good sense, and if that prevents a few rich guys from getting richer, I couldn’t care less.
