Ah well, the other thing that comes to mind is that this reminds me of a section in the Dungeonmaster’s Guide in old 1st edition AD&D where the author goes to great pains to explain just how many opponents (of each size) can attack a single character at the same time. Ha, so that was geeky, huh? Sounds just like what these pokersharks are discussing.
