Thank you to everyone leaving supportive comments. I thought I would share my father’s obituary here.

SELLAR, GORDON KINLAY

The family of Gordon K. Sellar, age 66 years of Saskatoon, sadly announces his unexpected passing on Saturday, February 4th, 2006. Gordon will always be loved and remembered by his wife of 33 years, Ghislaine; by his children, Gord of Seoul, South Korea, Marie and husband Troy, of Saskatoon, and Isabella and husband Martin of Winnipeg; and his grandson, Nathaniel, as well as his eagerly awaited second grandchild. Gordon was born on September 12th, 1939, in Zomba, Nyasaland (Malawi), and throughout his life felt the call of his homeland, Africa. His lifelong wish to return was briefly fulfilled a few weeks before his passing, and he once again heard the call of the turtledove in the African morning. He had hoped to return again someday to do relief work. He loved travel, geography, stamp collecting, sport, telling stories, cooking, snapping pictures of his grandson, and chocolate, and he could be seen daily around town picking up “just a few things”. After his retirement Gordon devoted his time as a passionate volunteer, helping reunite people through the Red Cross Restoring Family Links program, and working for seniors’ rights with the Saskatoon Community Clinic’s Seniors Advisory Council. A celebration of Gordon’s life will be held Thursday, February 9th at 1:30pm at Saskatoon Funeral Home (4th Ave and 25th Street) followed by a gathering at the W.A. Edwards family centre. In lieu of flowers, friends so wishing may make memorial donations to the Canadian Red Cross for relief work in Darfur, Sudan, Africa. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to SASKATOON FUNERAL HOME (244-5577). Much love and gratitude to the angels and friends of the heavenly realms who have assisted our beloved husband, father and grandfather in his passing into the light.

Let us live each moment from the inside out.
