Deadlines Whoosh Past

But they’re not firm, and I may get to those projects tomorrow. I’m listening to the latest Björk release, Volga. I shall have to buy it, it’s quite cool. There are always a couple of tracks on every one of Björk’s albums which are, for me, perfect SF-writing fodder. Memory Bank

My memory is starting to give out. Last year, I was able to keep track of everything that was happening in all of my classes without any trouble. Now, in all the classes for which I have two sections, I have mixed up at least something in each class. Of course, I should be keeping notes, and I’m going to start doing so again, but this distresses me. I also mixed up the bio of several well-known authors in an online crit group, have addressed people by other people’s names, and even gone to the wrong classroom for class. (Though, …

Oh yes. New story. For the call for the Mundane SF issue of Interzone, because while I don’t think SF needs to be Mundane, it’s after all just a set of constraints. I learnt stuff from full tonal writing fugues, I learned stuff from composing using serialist procedures, I learned stuff composing with twelve-sided dice, and I learned stuff when (badly) arranging Thelonious Monk songs for chamber orchestra and jazz quintet.
