Write-a-Thon

I’ve signed up for the Clarion West Write-a-thon again this year. This time around, I’ll be working on my long-deferred novel project, A Killing in Burma. I have a chunk of it written and I’m going for about 10,000-15,000 words a week, which should be possible even amid brewing, exercising, and catching up on my reading. That is, should be possible from this week; the first week of the Write-a-thon always happens during the last week of grading for me, so I will be playing catch-up for a week afterward, or something. We’ll see how much I produce.

If I were in the USA, I would probably also be posting a case of freshly brewed beer to the Workshop, as a kind of encouragement for the participants, but the shipping is killer and the tariff would suck and I bet the post office would probably try stop me sending it. So I’ll just work harder at writing.

In the meantime, if you’re looking for someone to sponsor, I’d be very happy to write my little black heart out for you. I’m still thinking about what I’m offering people who sponsor me: the chance to name a character? To be tuckerized into a story? To name a subgenre of SF and have me write it, for a big pledge? I don’t know… make me an offer!

You can support the Write-a-thon, and the excellent Clarion West program, by pledging some money on my progress here.
