HG Wells, in one of his several prefaces to the novel The War In The Air, in which he chastised people for not taking note of what he predicted would happen to warfare once war took the the skies. He wrote the following:

Again I ask the reader to note the warnings I gave in that year [1921], twenty years ago. IS there anything to add to that preface now? Nothing except my epitaph. That, when the time comes, will manifestly have to be: “I told you so. You damned fools.”

And thus could be something Chris someday writes linking back to this post about why America needs to get rid of Bush and spank the shit out of the Republicans.

Meanwhile, over at the famous photoblog Satan’s Laundromat, the proprietor Mike got arrested for taking pictures of unprecedented mass arrests of protesters during the RNC protests. He’s got a lot of pics up, and the most striking ones are here and here.

People, if you vote Republican you’re a fucking moron. That’s as simply as I can put it. As I said in a conversation at work today with my coworker Cheolseong, “The difference between Left- and Right-wing parties is very slight, but also very significant. I’ll fight for that slight difference.”

Unless, of course, you’re stupid enough to believe that the arrests were made “To keep the protests in line”. Why arresting photographers nearby, arresting several hundred cyclists who’d peacefully gone the same route many times before, or making any of the other arrests is “keeping protests is in line”, though. So if you buy that I think once again that you’re a fucking moron.

The only thing to which photography could in this case be violent is tyranny. And I hope its cognitive violence is successful.
