[redacted] and the Blowfish

Yet more good writing-related news: the Machine of Death anthology is going to be illustrated, and (I think this is firm) I’m chuffed at who they’ve chosen to illustrate my little yakuza story! (Which some might remember is titled “Improperly Prepared Blowfish.”)

(NOTE: I noticed that the guys over at Machine of Death is not publicizing names for a bit, so I’ll let them announce it first when things are finalized. But it’s cool!)

The comics world is a foreign land to me, as is probably evident from the fact I used the word “comics” just now, but I had a look around and saw enough of Mr. [redacted]’s work to be pleased and very curious to see what he comes up with!

  1. The comics world is a foreign land to me, as is probably evident from the fact I used the word “comics” just now

    The proper term is “Comics”

“Graphic Art/ Story-telling” is something geeks who don’t want people to know they’re geeks came up with to hide the fact that they secretly want to draw Spider-Man.

And the comics world is exactly as nit-picky and shrill as the SF world except you replace the Picard vs. Kirk argument with Thor vs.Hulk.

  2. I’d like to read some Paul Pope, but I just don’t like Batman enough to go through his current output…

(Also, “Alterna-comix vs. Super heroes” is the comic dweeb equivalent of “Star Wars vs. Star Trek” for SF dweebs.)

    PS: The Answers are-

    1. Sturgeon’s Law really applies to both types of comics. So choosing between the two tends to lead you into a losing situation regardless.

    2. Star Wars does, and always has, smell of poo.

  3. See, William (and Henry), I was like, “Pope? The Pope writes comic books?” (Then I giggled at the thought of Alexander Pope writing a comic book — what a nasty bit of work that would be.)

    Val,

There was discussion early on about it being available online, either in podcast form or even downloadable. We’ll see, I guess… :) Thanks!
