As of a couple of days ago, I'm back from a ten-day trip to Canada with our son. It was a really good trip, saw family and a good friend, had a lot of fun, but I am thoroughly exhausted and jetlagged. Also, energized to quit the doomscrolling and work on creative projects.

Okay, that's the third thing I've seen calling people anti-hope and cynical and anti-empathy and closed-hearted and whatever for noticing that Disclosure Day was a terrible movie. I like empathy and hope in movies, okay? I just also like them to be well-written and thoughtful, and it was neither.

This is why I'm no longer giving any take-home work to any of my students anymore. They may learn less, but it eliminates what was an emerging pattern of some students using AI even when explicitly told not to, and seeing nothing wrong with that.
