I made the most beautiful fermented soybean soup last night. It doesn’t traditionally have mushrooms in it, but I added that, along with potatoes, peppers, onions, tofu, and garlic. And I found the secret to making it perfectly: I put way too much water in with the soybean paste, and then I boiled it for a long time until the soup was thick brown. Had it for breakfast. It was sooooooo good. Gorgeous! But now I’m hungry again.

Office Conversation
Nick’s telling us about a vodka drinking contest. 1 guy died, 3 more in intensive care. 1.5 L of vodka in 40 minutes is what killed the winner of the contest. Nick is wondering how his students will react to an article about this, so he asks our Korean co-worker about it: Nick: “Hey Cheol Seong, do Korean students have drinking contests often?” Cheol Seong: “Well, there’s no prize but their whole life is a kind of drinking contest.” Hahaha.

I’m willing to bet that Mr. Jang-Yong Choi is the best travel agent in Korea. He works at Time Machine Travel up in Seoul. Here’s the company’s webpage. (It’s also available in Korean.)
