Here Doggie Doggie Doggie

I can’t remember if I’ve ever told my family in Canada that I’ve come to enjoy dog soup, but that is the first thing I thought of when I saw this poster.

Just don’t cook *my* dog, mmm’kay? She’s a beagley creature and I’d hate to see someone mistake her for chicken.

Luckily for you and your beagle, I don’t know how to prepare a proper dog soup. And anyway, nobody uses beagles for that. It’s a special sort of dog locally called a Ddong Gae (“shit dog”) that they use to make this culinary delight here in Korea.

  3. Marvin says:

    Mmm, that sounds appetizing!

Well, you know, it’s what the dogs used to live on during the war, so people tell me anyway. Reputedly the most delicious dog meat is from a dog who’s only ever eaten shit, but I think that’s too cruel to imagine. Just like most of the slaughter methods for dogs here… but that’s another issue for another day.
