Back on my feet (sorta)

All the posts that have gone up in the past four or five days have been prewritten, in fact were pre-scheduled a week or more ahead of time. Why am I mentioning this? Because anyone following along on my blog might think I was okay the past weekend, when in fact I had the worst case of food poisoning I’ve had since Jakarta.

Unfortunately, I think I know where I got it. I wish I could say it was my own fault… well, maybe it was, but I don’t know. I will say this: whenever I eat anything at Times Square in Yeongdeungpo (other than, say, a pretzel or a brownie), I get violently ill for a few days, so I don’t think I’ll be eating there again.

It’s weird, because it’s designed to be some kind of “upscale” mall type place, and you would think that food safety and hygiene and sanitation would be reflected in the crazily inflated prices of everything there, but…  well, my experiences suggest otherwise. However, I know I’m of a particularly delicate constitution, digestively, and maybe I’ve more likely to catch something where others wouldn’t. All I can say is that  I seem to be getting food poisoning a lot lately.

I’m on a bunch of medication for the week, and had to put off my routine checkup for work until next week because, though the nurses insisted it wouldn’t affect my test results, I’m pretty sure the (maybe mild, but definitely evident) dehydration from an extreme case of the runs would have jacked my blood glucose much higher than normal.

But posting will still be thinner on the ground for now, because I have to finish my grading and evaluations by next Monday. (That’s right, one full week after the end of exams to get those grades in. No wonder most profs just give multiple choice exams.)

I will have some news in the next day or so, though…
