Okay, I have a question. See, the Korean government put a block on popular blogsites like blogspot.com and livejournal in order to prevent access to the kinds of blogs that post links to such things. They couldn’t be bothered to only penalize the sites who posted such links, so instead they simply blocked ALL blogspot and livejournal sites. (And who knows what else.) I don’t understand, then, why popular Korean blog sites like Naver’s or igloos are up. I mean, I can see Lime’s blog, over at Naver, without any difficulty. And my old friend Nam Suk’s egloos site is …

The New World Orwell
So now they’ve actually issued a report that this was all bullshit? But wait, I thought the report said that the President and co. simply ignored the CIA’s reports, which didn’t implicate Iraq in any involvement with Al Quaida. The connect the dots analogy below is tragic and chilling. Sen. Jay Rockefeller, the leading Democrat on the 18-member panel, said that “bad information” was used to bolster the case for war. “We in Congress would not have authorized that war with 75 votes if we knew what we know now,” the West Virginia Democrat said. “Leading up to September 11, …
Sometimes Canada is Embarrassing Too
Like at a time like this.
Embarrassed by the Church (er, plus some Victorian kids)
I’ve spent some of the day catching up on my bloglines subscriptions, and come up with a few things worthy of interest. One is just a really interesting info site on the lives of orphans and street kids in the care of The Children’s Society in the Victorian Era, which I’m sure will be an interesting for my next big writing project (involving, well, I’ll say very generally, refugees and slums). And the other interesting thing is regarding the Church and American politics. A link on a heresy charge that a Catholic lawyer is filing against John Kerry. What the …
Interesting article on Korean unification
I found an article on Thomas P.M. Barnett’s blog about Korean reunification and America backing off in hopes that Seoul would lead the opposition to Kim. Since I think he’s somewhat wrong, I’ve also left comments, so keep scrolling. And he’s really wrong about Michael Moore, who is quite an unsavory sort of person, I’ve concluded… but I think I know lots of Americans who would sort of agree with a less-polemical version of many of the comments he makes which Barnett finds so objectionable.
The Ban
So this is a post about Korea, which I usually file under “Gord’s Life” which I intend on splitting into other categories later. But anyway, the thing I’m writing about is political. As most Korean bloggers and fans know, the government has blocked access to a whole host of blogs, including blogger’s blogspot-hosted sites. Here’s an article about it. This is illegal, yes. And ridiculous, yes. Will most of the world ever notice? No. Will the internet community notice? If we make them. My google search as of a few minutes ago didn’t make the story just out at me, …
Lime’s screed…
a very brief post tonight. for those who can read Korean, Lime (my girl!) has posted a screed about America and the current, well, world situation. her page is here and THIS IS THE SCREED. from what i can understand it’s good. :) off to bed.
What Color Terrorist?
Brownish, it seems. At least, to John Ashcroft’s mind. Why else would he ignore white, right-wing terrorist threats? They’re not Islamic, is that it? And the Justice Department, meanwhile, thinks that Green and Animal-Rights Activists are the worst domestic terror threat… huh? And Ascroft subpoenaed what? Ah, yes: a few months ago he took the unprecedented step of subpoenaing the hospital records of women who have had late-term abortions. That’s exactly what needs doing when the nation’s mired in an an occupation of a foreign country which is going badly, and facing a campaign year. Now it’s back to abortion, …
Margaret Cho Hits the Reagan Nail on the Head
Comedian Margaret Cho hits the “Reagan’s Dead Ballyhoo” nail squarely on the head in a recent post on her blog titled:Goodbye Pres. Reagan 6/11/2004 Goodbye Pres. Reagan I think that it must be bad when you have to reminisce about how great it was to have Ronald Reagan for president. We all mourn his loss, and have for the last several days, because it brings it home even harder how terrible things are today. It is like we are having an ‘end days time out,’ just a little break from the calamity, to view the body, secretly assess the damage, …
What Sports Are For
If you see this and think it’s about you, don’t take it personally. Talk to me about it. Post a comment. Think about it and see if you can see my side of things, mind you. I’ve just added a quote to my quotes file, but I’m sure it will run through my mind at the office when I hear people talk for hours and hours about the basketball season now in progress. Something to think about: …[Sports] offers people to pay attention to, that’s of no importance… that keeps them from worrying about things that matter to their lives, …
