This is a VERY rough draft of a satirical piece I’m thinking of working on and sending to a (leftist) magazine. What do you think? In today’s world, the most important thing about any industry is sustainability. Any investment you consider should be examined in terms of whether you can set up operations to continue profiting for a long, long time. And you’re in luck! We’re once again at the cusp of a big surge in an endlessly renewable resource for the American economy. Amazing as it might sound, it’s really, truly infinitely renewable, actually… at least, if you set …

Cowboys, Balls, And What America Seems To Have Forgotten About Its Own History
I woke to a text message on my phone and couldn’t get back to sleep, so I did a little reading on some of the feeds I’ve set up on my Bloglines account, and I got stuck on one post and the comments that were posted in response to it. Over at Gweilo Diaries, Conrad is of the opinion that “Gloria Arroyo has no Balls”. He writes: In a craven display of spinelessness, demonstrating that it is not a serious nation and guaranteed to put the lives of its citizens in future danger, the Philippine government released the following statement …
I’m Convertid! (Not!)
Having been to the States recently, it’s difficult for me to be so blasé about the certain doom that I feel is facing the country. Having spent time with such wonderful people there, having seen their kids, having walked their streets unmolested and having been treated relatively nicely by most of the strangers I met (with the exception of one bar’s gatekeeper, and an old guy who shouldered me and then looked as if it was my fault in the airport), it’s hard to stay objective and say, look, your government’s gonna get you all in such deep trouble you’ll …
Flashing Against Bush
Women who go about baring their panties to overthrow George Bush Jr.? They’re after my own heart! The Axis of Eve is a coalition of brazen women on a mission to EXPOSE and DEPOSE President Select George W. Bush and his deceitful administration. Convinced that effective political action can be irreverent and exciting, we have launched a titillating campaign of TRUTH-FLASHING coordinated around our provocative line of protest panties. Sure, it looks to me as if the political panties-and-t-shirt market might be as lucrative as it is subversive, but it’s also creative and the marches they put on offend the …
Garbage Dumplings and The Ubiquitous Sickness
I wanted to post about this before I went on holiday, but I never got a chance. One day, as I was preparing dinner, Lime turned to me and informed me that I shouldn’t be buying dumplings anymore, not for a while anyway. What the hell was she talking about? She explained that what was supposed to be going into dumplings—mainly meat fillings, apparently—had been replaced by rotten Chinese vegetables which were supposed to have been disposed of in the trash. Bear in mind that in Korea, Chinese food products are considered to be (and may well be) lower than …
