Well, it’s been a while since I’ve gone looking about online for people and things I know. I googled my old friend Mike and look what I found; his really professional DJ promo site, under his DJ name, DJ Deko-ze. We haven’t been in touch for almost a year now, which isn’t too unusual; we do manage to touch base every once in a while, but both of us are busy, and I think he’s even busier than I am. Those of you who know me well probably marvel at the fact that we have anything in common; he’s a …

On Gaming, ca. 2005
Gaming: My Thoughts Today (Updated 9 Feb 2007) I haven’t done any gaming in a few years now, partly because of lack of opportunity, but also partly because I simply don’t have time for it anymore. I rather amusedly imagine the world I’ll be retiring into, and can see tons of senior citizens gathering — both online, and in person around tables — to spend some portion of their Golden Years RPG gaming. After all, my generation is one that grew up in the heyday of the RPG, and I’ve found that, outside of high school, more than just geeks …
Turing Monkeywrench
This is an essay I began a very long time ago. It still rambles, but I wil get around to printing it out and revising it. I’d like to take the language a notch down, and address it to normal people, but at the same time, normal people don’t really read things like this, so maybe it’s not worth losing the language to reach an unreachable audience. I think it may count as preaching to the converted, but sometimes that’s all one can do… leave a footprint behind to later generations so they know there were people in the past …
In the Words of Shawn
There’s this guy I work with now, Shawn, who is a very amusing individual. He sits in the desk facing mine in the office, and usually when I peer over the top of the laptop on which I wrote most of the stuff that appears here, he’s playing with a styrofoam globe that sits on his desk, impaled by a sharpened chopstick and bound in however many rubber bands he can get his hands on that day. Sometimes there are tacks stuck into it, for safekeeping. Usually, when he’s in the room, he is playing with his (styrofoam) ball. Okay, …
The Letter I Want To Write, and the One I Will
I’ve had it. I know it won’t do any good, but the freaks in the Church across the way have finally gone too far. Holding freakish handful-of-people blathering-in-pretend-tongues while some authoritarian man screams at the top of his lungs OUT IN THE PARKING LOT is just too much. I know, I know, you could say to me, “But you’re living beside a Church, man. Of course you’re going to hear some weird sounds.” The problem is, living beside a Church is the default state for almost everyone in Korea. There are as many (or in some areas, more) churches as …
