That’s right, this is post #1000 here at eclexys. I’m just posting a little link because I really must get to bed soon. I spent all evening editing the letter to the editor which you can see in the previous post, and tomorrow morning Lime and I leave for our (short) trip to SongGwangSa, a Buddhist Temple down near Suncheon. Once I get back, I’ll be working camp and trying to get an essay for an essay-writing contest finished, so I may not post much for a week or two. But hey: I’ve reached post #1000! That’s something, eh? UPDATE: …

No Korean Name But In Japanese I Am…
I know I’m in Korea, not Japan, but I haven’t seen a Korean Name Generator online, so I’m, well, settling for a Japanese name. Given that there are kanji characters (“hanja” in Korean, meaning Chinese characters), I suppose some Korean could render this for me, if they were so inclined… My japanese name is 吉国 Yoshikuni (good fortune country) 大輝 Taiki (large radiance).Take your real japanese name generator! today!Created with Rum and Monkey‘s Name Generator Generator. Found this on Marvin’s page, by the way.
Pious Frauds: The Lie Of Stigmata
You’d think, with people needing to write articles like this, that we’re still in the Middle Ages or something. It’s sad.
Aspirin for a Sunburn?
Damn! I wish I’d bought that Aspirin I was looking at in the shop in Texas. Check this out: it seems that Aspirin is one of the best treatments for sunburn, or so says this doctor… at least, I assume the poster is a doctor. He or she went to medical school, so he or she claims, and he or she makes a believable explanation of why it should work. Note that his or her website does not load, though. Hmmm. It’s a funny thing when you doubt someone’s honestly based on the fact the personal website for which they …
Potato Slices on My Shoulders. And They’re Not Falling Off. (Thin Sliced. )
Well, having arrived back in Korea a week ago, having noted the slight growth of my gut, having that weird uneasy feeling of laziness begin to creep into the whole of my body, I have been making an effort to get back into some kind of better shape than I am… Why I have thin-sliced pieces of potato on my shoulders, well, that’ll all be clear in a bit. Bear with me. So I began to cycle, a few days ago. It was inevitable, really. As soon as the heavy rains stopped, it was just a matter of time and …
Where I’ve Been So Far
In my opinion, this is far from enough. create your own visited country map or write about it on the open travel guide I’m only counting places I remember. Having been born in Malawi, or been carried through Europe as an infant, doesn’t count, to my mind.
Finally, Honest Political Verse
A very biting sestina: John Ashcroft and Tom Delay Pretty Much Suck Ass via Blog of a Bookslut.
Photoblog Updated (Finally.)
Well, finally, I’ve got all the pics from my last two big trips up. Everything I’m planning to post from both my trip to India last winter, and my trip to North America this summer, is up for your browsing pleasure. The only things I might add are a couple of animated gifs of Koko on a swing, and Marvin kicking a tree, if I can figure how to author such animated gifs using a sequence of .JPG files. I know it’s doable, I just need to figure out how. But before that, I want to do some other things, …

This is all Charlie’s fault. Just… just go look.
Fusion Opera?
The Korea Herald claims that the advent of a new genre of fusion opera is upon us. Huh? How is having the recitatives translated into Korean the creation of a new genre? It’s even less creative than I imagined. Now, a full-stage new (classical) music opera, with digital effects onstage, and cool stuff like that, telling a traditional Korean story, that might be a new genre, or at least something like “fusion opera”, but this? This is just The Barber of Seville. It’s enough to make me want to get out my manuscript paper sketchbook and find some Korean kind …
