And one more Quiz: This Time, Classic Novels

In my not so humble opinion, you, of course, belongin the Picture of Dorian Gray, and do not tryto deny it. You belong in the fashionablecircles of Victorian London where exotictastes, a double life, decadence, wit and ahypocritical belief in moral betterment makeyou a home. You belong where the wittyapothegms of Lords, the silly moralities ofmatrons, the blinding high of opium, and thebeauty of visual arts mingle to form oneconvoluted world. Which Classic Novel do You Belong In? brought to you by Quizilla Okay, no more quizzes for today. Thanks for the link to this one, Melissa.

What Gender is Your Writing?

Okay, so men and women are different. We all know this. Once in a while political issues make us say things like, “We’re really not that different!”, but then scientists come in and pretty succintly inform us that we are different. Our brains are somewhat different, our bodies take slightly different shapes, our drives in many respects are different. And, apparently, this affects how we write. A bit of software out there on the net, called the Gender Genie, can analyse a text and with a pretty impressive degree of accuracy tell you whether the author is male or female. …

sarah hatter and change

Over on sarah hatter dot com, Sarah has something interesting to say about desperation and whether people really do change in life: The more desperate the circumstance, the more urgency a person has to find something to count on, to hold true to. When everything else has failed a person, that is when they start to really believe. How many near death experiences have scared a person out of a life of self-centeredness and deceit? How many death beds have heard confessions of sin and self? How many epic tragedies does it take for a person to begin all over …

Weird North Korean Propaganda and Other Bizarre Stuff

At least, that’s what Cunninilingus in North Korea purports to be. It’s not porno, though, rest assured. More like propagandaesque text discoursing on intercourse and communism. I have no idea what it really is, where it’s from, or anything. But there’s more from Young-Hae Chang Heavy Industries here. Weird, all of it weird weird weird. Thanks Marvin for the heads-up. By the way, for those of you who are incredulous, one of my female Korean acquaintances online said that the content of Cunninilingus in North Korea isn’t as crazy as it seemed at first, and it’s interesting, if confusing. (She …

Next time…

Next time you decide to have a half-hour long conversation out in the hallway, basically in front of my door, it would be nice if you didn’t yell. And I know the person I am saying this to probably won’t read this, but… I can’t very well stomp into the hallway and demand quiet. So, here is the vent. I’ve had a bad day, for reasons I’ll maybe get into in another post. Later.

Recently Added…

I recently added some more banners to this site. They’re random, at the top of each page. I’m curious which ones are favorites out there. And yes I know that most of them are blurry. It’s on purpose. I also added a new track to the Listen… sidebar drop menu, to your right. It’s a track by the Uh Uh Boo Project band, from an EP that seems unavailable now. If people like it I can put more up. Finally, please don’t miss the new poll. It’s less grouchy and, I hope, funnier. Off to bed I go now…

eclexys updates…

I’ve been busily updating this page for a while now. You may notice the random banners on the tops of all the different pages… I’m having fun adding a few every few days, and I would like to have a lot of them up. I’ve also added feeds from other blogs where I post, including New Sophists’ Almanac, my Korean blog, and my band’s infoblog. This is a very cool. It is actually possible to add feeds for blogs that one likes, as well as one’s own blogs, since it all just works off RSS. But I won’t go there… …

Scary People Who Like To Wear Too Much Makeup While On A Mission

Rob, who posted a comment on my friend Marvin’s blog about scary clowns, is right. This is kind of scary. Not just Liberty and Belle, but actually, almost all of the clowns in their “before” shots. They all just kind of look like scary people, except Nikki and David. David looks like a reformed goth drug user, though, and Nikki looks like a girl I used to have a crush on in grade school who ended up being an idiot and a bit of a jerk. Oooh, and she kind of resembles a sex addict I once knew. Who was …
