The Livejournal feed for my blog died last September when I migrated to WordPress, but the Gorduncle feed has not been updated. I can’t remember who created it — maybe Julia, or Kat? — but in any case, it needs either to be updated or a new one needs to be created. If any LJ user feels it’s worthwhile and does so, please let me know… but wait, and let me know first. I’ve been thinking about implementing a feedburner feed for my site, so I can get more feedback on my RSS readership and so on, BEFORE getting into …

Happy Birthday in Korea…
I was reading one of my student bloggers’ comments about it being her birthday, and I thought back to the rendition I heard at a recent department party. As usual, people were singing and clapping and the rhythm of the clapping struck me as totally wrong, but in a vague way — mostly because I just never devoted brain power to figuring out why. Now I know. You see, Koreans are ardent clap-and-sing people. People love to clap along with the beat at concerts (even sometimes when it’s inappropriate, as I witnessed occasionally at the Jeonju Sori Festival), and when …
Bloggers of Seoul: Untie and Take Over.
Yes, Untie. Or something. I have a song in my head, and I hope you know it’s the Smiths. Three and a half hours of editing and we’re now done one of the two articles for the University Magazine. I didn’t think it would take this long to do the second read-through and edit the conclusion, and so I said a smoky upper room in a cafe would be okay, but now, I smell like smoke and I feel exhausted. I think I’m going to go wander, pick up a few nice foreign foodstuffs, and perhaps putter about at WhatTheBook. …
Stories That Are On Their Way Out The Door
I’ve mentioned this a few times, and I thought I might just go ahead and post a couple of lists. They’re as much to help me remember what I’m planning on sending out, and to help pressure me into finishing the redrafts of the ones needing more work, as they are to pique your interest. But for those who’d sampled stories and wondered why became of them, you may discover something of interest here. Without further ado, the lists: READY TO GO NOW: VERSE: ‘Ishk Gaslight Kjellgaard’s Notes (previously “Naturalism Experiment #2”) SHORT FICTION The Plea From Factory Unit 5 …
Less Fun Than I Imagined
Which isn’t saying much. I’ve started writing the thank-you letters to people who emailed me condolences on my father’s passing. It’s even less fun than I imagined it would be, and I feel sheepish having taken so long just to say thanks. But I have been pretty damned busy. Ah well.
Back Online
As some of you might have imagined, I have finally attained net access at home. It’s ever so slightly embarrassing how relieving this actually is… I could feel it, palpably feel my disconnection from the net, from those whom I know online, and it was a little disconcerting. My schedule is such that it’s a little hard to call Canada, though I think tomorrow I shall try give my mother a shout. But tonight, I did a little catching up, and as anyone paying attention to the other posts from tonight can see, it was Ritu’s LJ I decided to …
Inquisitivical
Here I am, meming off an old post of Ritu‘s. The meme’s behind the cut. Fill in in the comments section if you so wish.
My First Big Round
I’m on the verge of a big round of submissions to SF magazines — really, my first, and something that I put off for far, far too long. Even though I’m busy, it’s not as much work as one might think, since I’ve had a bunch of stuff ready to send out for a long time, and a bunch of other stuff that’s only a once-over away from being ready, and still more that needs a good solid working-over, but not a complete rewrite. So here I am, with my laptop and OpenOffice, and I’m ready to get all these …
A moment only
My to-do list remains long, but I thought I’d spend a minute updating here. The morning was off from class, because there was a mass, and I have never quite seen a mass like this before: there was a choir, but at the end, some apparently very-famous Korean Catholic pop star came and sang three songs. I think the sound system was a little overloaded, as it gave out a little way into the third song, a couple of times no less, but she sang her little heart out (little, because she was strikingly short and small of build) and …
More Ads?
I don’t know why, but I’ve been getting more phone spam since I moved to Bucheon… even though I don’t recall giving my number to anyone new. It’s strange! You know, phone spam… when a call comes but it’s just a machine calling you, no real person on the other end, and the machine is there simply to get you to buy something. I really wish I knew why I am getting more of it now.
