Lost: One Recurring Dream

Lately, on returning home I’ve been falling asleep early. I’m talking about coming home from work at 6:30 pm, having a couples of glasses of water, setting up my computer to burn a DVD-ROM, and then laying down to read a little while I wait for the CD to finish, and suddenly waking up at 1:30 am, or something like that. It’s quite strange, though, because when I wake at 1:30 am, I have this clear memory of the feeling I had during my dream. I have the very clear memory of having said aloud in the dream, “Wait, this …

Old Friend’s Website

Well, it’s been a while since I’ve gone looking about online for people and things I know. I googled my old friend Mike and look what I found; his really professional DJ promo site, under his DJ name, DJ Deko-ze. We haven’t been in touch for almost a year now, which isn’t too unusual; we do manage to touch base every once in a while, but both of us are busy, and I think he’s even busier than I am. Those of you who know me well probably marvel at the fact that we have anything in common; he’s a …

In the Words of Shawn

There’s this guy I work with now, Shawn, who is a very amusing individual. He sits in the desk facing mine in the office, and usually when I peer over the top of the laptop on which I wrote most of the stuff that appears here, he’s playing with a styrofoam globe that sits on his desk, impaled by a sharpened chopstick and bound in however many rubber bands he can get his hands on that day. Sometimes there are tacks stuck into it, for safekeeping. Usually, when he’s in the room, he is playing with his (styrofoam) ball. Okay, …

The Letter I Want To Write, and the One I Will

I’ve had it. I know it won’t do any good, but the freaks in the Church across the way have finally gone too far. Holding freakish handful-of-people blathering-in-pretend-tongues while some authoritarian man screams at the top of his lungs OUT IN THE PARKING LOT is just too much. I know, I know, you could say to me, “But you’re living beside a Church, man. Of course you’re going to hear some weird sounds.” The problem is, living beside a Church is the default state for almost everyone in Korea. There are as many (or in some areas, more) churches as …

Lime’s New Blog, Open Source, and OS Thoughts

Well, there’s a tiny bit of content there, so I guess it’s safe to link. Lime’s got a new blog at www.baboddongko.com. It’s powered by WordPress, and it’s a Korean version (with Korean interface, I mean) she’s running, though she tells me she plans on posting in English occasionally. Incidentally, I am really impressed with WordPress. For a company determined to keep providing its product for free, and for something built using Open Source and community input and involvement, it’s an amazing product. While it took me a little while to get used to—because I was changing over from the …

Things I’ve Learned This Week

Being an interstellar pilot might be incredibly fun at first, but in the end it would always end up being excessively dangerous, or excessively automated (and thus kinda boring). Not that I am getting bored of the EVE Online, but rather that I cannot imagine making my living that way for many years in real life. An apple a day doesn’t really keep the doctor away, but that’s good when you’re dating a doctor-to-be. Being really organized isn’t all that hard. It just takes a tiny bit more effort output at the beginning of a project… but will require much …

Oh Tomes, Thou Art Come To My Bosom Now

I’m glad I stayed a little late at the office today sorting out some class-organization sheets—which I’ll upload tomorrow, they’re a handy resource for keeping track of what you taught and assigned for homework last time. But anyway, because I stayed at the office late, my latest book order came in from Whatthebook.com. And then didst I feel a great and wicked joy within my breast, let me tell you. What did I get? I’m gonna conceal this from the main page, because most people won’t care, but leave a link for those who are curious.

Static Pages Added

If you check out the sidebar, you’ll see I’ve added added some Static Pages to the site. There’s a bio for me, as well as a FAQ containing the standard Korean questions and the answers I wish I could give, a character sheet for me if I were a Wraith: The Oblivion character, my political opinions on various issues, and an explanation of the name of my website, “eclexys”. More will be coming in the next few days, as well as some edits to what’s already there. Everything is in transition and will probably remain so for a while. And …
