Or even tired as hell. That’s how Lime was tonight, and I’m afraid I know quite well how she felt. I slept on a park bench while waiting for her to finish her work at the hospital. I think tomorrow night I shall make sure to sleep relatively early. But since tomorrow’s an 8:30 class, I’d best be getting to bed now, to get what sleep I can. I just hope she wakes early tomorrow, as she’s got some presentations to do. As for me, during my free time, I’m going to go order some new sunglasses. The ones I …

Another Baby Cheer (continued)
Yes, more baby business. I meant to post some of this earlier but it was one of those days; lost sunglasses, messed up bike, trip to the bike shop, sleeping on a park bench for a few hours, and so on. Lime’s looking tired and I, for some strange reason, am sweating even more since the weather has cooled off. But I now have a long, long seat-post on my bike and I can cycle like the damned wind, with my legs getting full extension and not hurting when I go up hills. And as you may have noticed, the …
Another Baby Cheer!
Myoung called me just now, this morning, to inform me that Mer had given birth to a healthy baby boy last night, whose name is Luca (or is it Luka? I’m not sure). When I heard the name, I said what people of my generation will probably ask a lot, “You mean like the song, ‘My Name Is Luca’?” Which is a stupid thing to say, but anyway, that’s what I said. They’re at the hospital and were having breakfast when Myoung called. Mer and the baby are both fine and Myoung sounded quite happy. Well, I am glad that …
I SHOULD have gone to a clinic, I suppose
Back during camp, when I was feeling horribly sick, everyone told me to go to a clinic. Well, wait, no. Foreigners mostly just advised the same kind of thing that we usually advise: bed rest, sleep, lots of fluids, and time. But all the Koreans who knew of how sick I was advised that I see a doctor, just in case. Of course, I said, “No, no, you don’t need to go to the doctor for every little thing, you know! In my country,”I said arrogantly, “we don’t go to the doctor for every little problem.” Turns out they were …
A Pretty Good Day
Today: I found out I am now an uncle! Yay! Marie, Troy, Nathaniel, congratulations to all of you! Now’s one of those times I wish I could step into a teleporter machine and visit home to see the little fellow… and everyone else too, of course. We had a meeting and managed to set up the desks in the office in a way that not only make me happy, but also leave open a nice huge space in the middle of the room, which is good for everyone. Whew. We had a lunch paid for by the University. It was …

Silly Olympic Events and Wisdom Teeth
Last bittie for the day: I went to the dentist today to see if my left bottom wisdom tooth needs to be pulled. He thinks it does, but wouldn’t pull it or even X-Ray it until my current tonsilitis infection is gone. Tonsilitis? Yeah, I didn’t know I had it, either. So now I have some antibiotics. Three days worth, which nobody but me thinks is a bad idea. Wait till the superflus hit… then who’ll be laughing? Ah, damn, nobody will be. Anyway, while I was waiting, I was laughing very hard. Why? Because I was watching the most …
Decent Humans Sighting!!!
Yes, it’s days like this I post about to remind myself of when the days full of jerks come along. In fact, it’s a very important thing to me to post about good people, so I am doing it despite deciding to limit myself to a couple of posts a day. Tonight I met with Lime for coffee; because it was raining, I took a taxi there and home, and I happened to be wearing a pair of pants I’ve not worn in ages, which are my monk pants. They’re just like what monks wear, except for the color, and …
Great Stuff
Ever wonder what you’d get if you mixed a Tarantino film with the Harry Potter industry? Because I’ve found it online, here. And it’s pretty good. Meanwhile, I really enjoy Dr. Oxford’s approach to literary and cinematic criticism, even if he’s wrong about Star Wars. Go here. Explore.
Thoughts on the Church
Last night Lime and I were talking about religion and I mentioned the famous In Hoc Signo Vinces story about Constantine. For those who don’t know it, and are too lazy to follow the link, it’s how Christianity (Catholicism specifically) went from being a persecuted minor cult hiding in the catacombs and sewers, to the official state religion of the Roman Empire. (Interestingly, the Edict of Milan seems to pull the same trick as American conceptions of religious freedom: mentioning only Christianity, and mentioning it over and over again.) What was fascinating in our discussion, anyway, was her opinion that …
