A Long Way To Go
Today was one of those frustrating days. In one of my classes, I was leading an exercise in which students were creating “interesting characters” for the plays that they’re going to write and perform. Well, what do you… several times, people said things that, well, I can’t say they were simply racist, but they were quite obviously offensive, and all I could think was, “What are you THINKING?” For example, I did a funny exercise when we we talking about this idea of a disease outbreak. (For those with whom I attended Clarion West… yes, I totally did rip off …
More Gleanings
Been grading. More amusing bitlets: Tom Cruise isn’t his name. His real name is Thomas Cruise. Universities are obviously obligated to provide convenient services to students, like, say, free bus service to the subways. Because 2km is too far to walk, and the equivalent of 25 cents per ride is ridiculously overpriced, whereas 10 cents would be reasonable. I’m not sure why the student thinks so. (And I should note, I often use this bus. But I happen to think it’s an inexpensive and handy service, actually.) What’s M.C. an abbreviation for? That’s right, Menstruation. (Apparently, this is a Chinese-English …
Noticeable Improvement
Today, I focused on cardio exercise… and surprised myself! 14 minutes on the treadmill, no breaks, with (after a minute or so of walk-in) a constant pace of 7 km/hr 15 minutes on the stationary cycle, no breaks, but not at a constant pace because the damned thing kept trying to push me into more difficult levels. Another 10 minutes on the treadmill, trying Shawn’s suggestion of intertraining… that translated to 3 one-minute bursts of 10 km/hr, and the rest walking at 4 or 6 km/hr. I stopped more because I decided to head out and do some marking before …
In Case You Noticed…
… the mini-posts section in my sidebar wasn’t displaying for a while. I broke it when I added a second mini-posts section tracking recent workouts, and then forgot to insert a command to rewind the post count for the second miniposts section. If you can see this, when you already know what it says — that that section just got fixed. Of course, for those reading by RSS, there’s been no shift and you haven’t missed anything. Lucky you.
