At least, that’s what Cunninilingus in North Korea purports to be. It’s not porno, though, rest assured. More like propagandaesque text discoursing on intercourse and communism. I have no idea what it really is, where it’s from, or anything. But there’s more from Young-Hae Chang Heavy Industries here. Weird, all of it weird weird weird. Thanks Marvin for the heads-up. By the way, for those of you who are incredulous, one of my female Korean acquaintances online said that the content of Cunninilingus in North Korea isn’t as crazy as it seemed at first, and it’s interesting, if confusing. (She …

Next time…
Next time you decide to have a half-hour long conversation out in the hallway, basically in front of my door, it would be nice if you didn’t yell. And I know the person I am saying this to probably won’t read this, but… I can’t very well stomp into the hallway and demand quiet. So, here is the vent. I’ve had a bad day, for reasons I’ll maybe get into in another post. Later.
What You Do Matters.
Hey America. I know you’re at war and all that, making the world safe for democracy America. I know you want to be in control of everything. But guys… this is a heads up. Not from someone who is out to do anything himself… I live far away and can’t speak enough Korean to say anything to most people around me. But just you keep at it this way. You never know where this kind of thing will lead. (For those nations sick of the regime, I think this strategy is intriguing… and America, that is a heads up for …
Recently Added…
I recently added some more banners to this site. They’re random, at the top of each page. I’m curious which ones are favorites out there. And yes I know that most of them are blurry. It’s on purpose. I also added a new track to the Listen… sidebar drop menu, to your right. It’s a track by the Uh Uh Boo Project band, from an EP that seems unavailable now. If people like it I can put more up. Finally, please don’t miss the new poll. It’s less grouchy and, I hope, funnier. Off to bed I go now…
A poem I mentioned once…
Here’s a poem I mentioned once to Sun Hwa in Seoul over coffee, talking about how writers excel most when they know which details to mention and which to leave out. While cleaning up my apartment I ended up looking through my copy of Rimbaud and found the poem. Seems I misrembered a detail about whose boots Rimbaud was describing, but anyway, it’s still a beautiful detail, better still in the French despite the wonderful translation by Wyatt Mason. This poem is taken from his translation, Rimbaud Complete. Enjoy. At the Cabaret-Vert, Five P.M. by Arthur Rimbaud Eight days of …
Craziness.
Yes, it is. But funny. Sort of, anyway.
Golden Nano-Bullet Cancer Treatment
This is just damn cool. Gold “nano-bullets” could seek and destroy inoperable human cancers, suggest new studies by US scientists. The tiny silica particles are plated with gold and heat up when near infrared light (NIR) is shone on them. This kills the cancer cells. Tests on human breast cancers, both in the test tube and in tumours in mice, were highly successful, the researchers report in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. “The nanoshells are designed to absorb near infrared light and convert that light to heat,” explains Jennifer West, who led the study at Rice University, …
What is Art? What is an Artist? Does It Matter?
I posted about this over on New Sophists’ Almanac, but I cannot resist also posting about it here. There’s a woman named Judith Scott who produces all kinds of “fiber art”, which isn’t really remarkable in itself (unless you happen to find that the artworks speak to you in a wway that they simply don’t speak to me…). Nothing remarkable at all, actually, can be said about her, except… she’s got Down’s Syndrome, severe mental handicaps, some physical handicaps too. And she very likely has no concept of art that would be recognizable to us. And yet she works at …
eclexys updates…
I’ve been busily updating this page for a while now. You may notice the random banners on the tops of all the different pages… I’m having fun adding a few every few days, and I would like to have a lot of them up. I’ve also added feeds from other blogs where I post, including New Sophists’ Almanac, my Korean blog, and my band’s infoblog. This is a very cool. It is actually possible to add feeds for blogs that one likes, as well as one’s own blogs, since it all just works off RSS. But I won’t go there… …
“We’re Not Losing The Culture Wars Anymore.”
Is the American media closed? What does this do to the American mind? How about Korea, and Quebec, and English Canada? And what are the ethics of publishing inside a closed-media nation?…
