From boing-boing: The mayor of Bogota uses mimes for public behavior control. And it’s popular, and it seems to work.

Bloglines Catchup
I gave up on doing much of anything useful today; instead, I just kind of relaxed, did a little work on my ghost story, posted some comments to a friend about a draft of a novel she sent me a while back, watched Trainspotting, and turned to my bloglines subs to catch up… a little. There are too many posts to catch up on them all, so I’m going to (a) delete some subscriptions and (b) delete some of the subs I’m not really interested in tracking anymore, or which have stopped existing. One site I will not be deleting …
Jolly, Merry, Happy, Blessed Xmas
So, Merry Christmas to everyone out there who happens upon this. You shouldn’t be online today, you should be with people you care about, doing something else. Okay, I’m one to talk. But I just saw Lime off. Christmas, you see, is her birthday. So after a long day of running around town, I made her a dinnershe requested pastaand opened some presents from one another and my folks. My folks sent a lot of great stuff, including wonderful girly skin creams and the like. I got her a few nice surprises, too. Lime got me the greatest presents, too: …

Yes, I finally got up the last batch of pictures from the last few months up over at my photogblog, imagisme. Whew! Mr. Nathaniel
Here’s a pic of my nephew Nathaniel, now at three and some-months. If only plane tickets were cheap. Ah well, maybe this summer I can meet him.
Over at Metanoiac
I followed a trackback to a post on my writing class (which is now history, like the rest of my classes from last semesteryay!) and discovered an interesting Foreigner-in-China Blog called Metanoiac. Among the articles were links to the following: 33 Reasons Why you shouldn’t post your picture on the internet a link to a piece about a rapping flight attendant who wants asshole passengers to know that they’re not God. I like the attitude, even if I can’t understand a word of it. Some absolutely crazy menu stuff, even better than I used to see in Iksan where the …
Today…
I received the W25,000 ($25 CDN) used bookcase that I bought last night. Delivery was free. I spent a few hours this evening rearranging stuff from the one jammed-full bookcase and the floorspace surrounding it, to the second bookcase. I have a feeling that I am correct that using a second bookshelf to store my stuff will make cleaning house regularly less of a chore… because there will be less to pick up from the floor and move when I want to sweep and mop. I rediscovered what it’s like to have a drawer for “stuff”. Until recently, I’ve had …
On Ethics, Evolution, and Crap Like That
Where do morals come from? If they’re not emanations of absolute truth that mystically arrive in human minds, well, then, where do they come from? Watch me take a stab at that question.
Philosophy, Such As Perhaps It Is…
I’ve posted a new bit of philosophical writing over at the New Sophists’s Almanac. It’s a refutation of a Catholic argument against abortion, which is funny because I myself am not all that crazy about it… but I do question the way which people choose to fight abortion. If you’re curious, go have a look…
Gaaaaaa.
I sometimes really hate provincialism in computer programmers. I finished calculating all of my students’ grades this evening, and decided to enter them into the University system using my home computer, which of course has an English OS installed. What do you know, but once I finally managed to get into the system, it’s running a script that won’t load on my OS. Why this is, I don’t know, but the way the thing is coded, it will only run on Korean-only machines. I mean, I have Korean installed on this computer, and all, it’s just that the default language …
