Today I killed off some of my stress and some time at the Jim Jil Bang. This is a marvelous Korean version of a spa, at sane prices. You pay a little money and you can not only use the public baths (though, sadly, there seems to be no mud bath these days), but also the temperature controlled, semi-quiet relaxation area. It may seem strange to pay money to bathe with other people, and then sit in a T-shirt and shorts in warm rooms or in large open spaces with people lying on the floor sleeping or chatting… but it’s …

Chlorine
Well, I finally found the time to get over to the campus pool yesterday. I swam for about an hour, but it was not like I used to swim. I had to stop a lot… having missed out on near-daily practice for a couple of months, I have gained a few kilograms back and I’ll gone soft… so I think I shall swim daily, perhaps even twice daily once I have my strength back. The water is pretty chlorinated, I guess. It didn’t taste how I remember chlorinated pools tasting, but when I did the backstroke, I got a fair …
Seoul Update
Okay, so here’s the weekend in a nutshell. I decided not to come to Seoul until Saturday, but I’d made plans to meet up with my friend Sun Hwa so I caught the 6:30 bus to Seoul. That was so that we would be able to meet in Apgujeong around 11:00; but first, had to hurry to the Nakwon Sanga, where I needed to get some repairs on my sax. I got to the Nakwon Sanga by about 9:45, but the shop was very busy, and then when the shop owner finally got a chance to sit down with me …
Poll
I added a poll to this site, down on the lower end of the right sidebar. Vote today! And, I’ve just checked the results. I am flattered that someone actually voted for “all of Gord.” How sweet. Who was it? Wait, no don’t tell me. I may not want to know. Well, but maybe I do. Er… This weekend is busy, but I think after this weekend I shall have to redecorate my Korean-language blog, as it’s been neglected enough. I never realized how much a change in style can affect one’s mood toward posting on one’s blog. Hm.
Not Really Her Bum
Before you get too riled up: that’s not really her bum. This is a Japanese product that’s on the market. The skirt has a picture of a bum printed on it. I found this on David Galbraith’s site. Sometimes what Koreans say about Japan goes too far, but sometimes I have to agree and say something very weird and vaguely sinister is going on over there in Tokyo. Certainly not all bad, but… kind of… well, hmmm.
Stealth Disco
Okay, I said I wouldn’t post again tonight, but this is really funny.
I’ve been blogged.
And not by who you think. I do have one friend who’s been blogging about me, but I’m not going to mention that because I’m shy about what she’s been blogging about… even though it’s very sweet and brings a smile to my face every time. And it’s less surprising for me because it’s in English. But… today I found out that I’ve been blogged by someone I’ve never even met. In Korean. It shouldn’t surprise me, of course. I’ve blogged people I never met, and I have even blogged in Korean. But still, it surprised me! I was looking …
Korean Blog…
I’ve started posting on my Korean blog again. Maybe this will make me study a little harder? I want to improve, even if I don’t have a lot of people to practice with right now. But the site needs a major overhaul… the style is very boring and has been the same for a long time. And I also need to finish getting my English site updated (blogrolling list, a recent commenters feature, and so on) before I embark on any big style update on the Korean page.
Crazy, Sane, Dating, and Single
Men Are Crazy for Women Who Are, Too Margaret Atwood wrote, in Lady Oracle, My mother’s two categories; nice men did things for you, bad men did things to you. And you hear a lot about how bad men are always being nasty to good women. Why don’t you hear those stories about how these supposedly good women gravitate to the bad men? One of my friends said to me recently, “If a woman is dating an asshole, she’s probably an asshole too… so they deserve one another.” This stuck in my head, especially after today finding out that one …
The kids on the other side of the fence are screaming…
… but then, it’s Tuesday afternoon and they’re on the front porch of a hot church, taking a break from chanting their cathecism for the last half-hour, military-drill style. I would be screaming too.
