Yes, here it is! Tony  at Starship Sofa has posted this week’s podcast, which includes a wonderful dramatic reading by J.J. Campanella of my Asimov’s novelette “Lester Young and the Jupiter’s Moons’ Blues.” The cover art for this issue is an excellent scene from the story by artist Skeet Scienski (who also has an audio segment on genre art!) — I’m blown away by that art, man! — and the story is introduced by Sheila Williams, the editor of Asimov’s SF! Gardner Dozois has posted the TOC for The Year’s Best Science Fiction, Twenty-Sixth Annual Collection, and if you check the list, you find my name beside my story “Lester Young and the Jupiter’s Moons’ Blues” which appeared in Asimov’s in July 2008. It feels so long ago, but I still think it’s worth a look back: My article on the SFnal side of the anti-2MB protests that rocked Seoul this past summer, titled “How Candle Girl and V Took on 2MB”, is now up at the excellent Clarkesworld. It touches on the political reception and adaptation of foreign SF, techno-protest culture, Korean politics and food-culture, and more. I am not so fond of DRM, but Fictionwise does offera PDF option, which is about as non-invasive as you can get. (I’m pretty sure the PDFs are printable, for example.)

“Dhuluma No More” is the second story I’ve published in Asimov’s SF so far: it’s in the October/November double issue which should now be on newsstands, if I have my information. Here’s the advance notice of the issue, and the Table of Contents for the issue. The subscriber issues of Asimov’s July ’08 issue are out, and apparently there’s a review of my story in it coming in Locus… I’ll be waiting a while for my copy, but the gist is here. And it’s been a springboard to at least one discussion of jazz SF already at the Asimov’s board. Is it impolitic to jump in on such a discussion? I would like to inform Redmarvel that the fate of the cowboys will not always be a mystery, if I get my way… but wouldn’t want to make people feel like they can’t bash the story …
